For the last decade, Transit has evolved from an app for Montréal’s bus commuters into a global force, one dedicated to improving the lives of public transit riders worldwide. Today, we help millions of commuters across 300+ cities in 18 countries — one of which is extra dear to our hearts. Our p’tit cousin, la France.

We’re a Montréal-based company, and we’re proud to have expats from Paris and Lyon and Cannes and Montpellier and beyond. They help us find the best French data sources and work with us to craft features tailored to French needs. They also smuggle the good butter back to our office.

Our focus on becoming the best app for French transit riders has paid huge dividends. Paris is now one of Transit’s keystone cities, with more active users than almost any other region in the world. Even outside Paris, French users trust Transit to make it to their lycée on time, pick up their kids from daycare, navigate transit strikes, and get from a-to-b no matter what hour.

After years of growing in France from our transatlantic perch, we’re finally looking for someone in l’Hexagone to take us to the next level: leveraging our existing presence in France to win the hearts and minds of the transport authorities and operators who serve them.

In the raucous theatre of the “mobility biz” in France, there are hundreds of competing voices. Apps… consultants… all these “singers” (of possibly dubious talent?) are all clamouring for the attention of the same people. Be it the RATP, or the other tricone-wearing vicars of French mobility. You’ll need to cut through the opera crowd chatter, and find ways to reach and inspire French authorities.

Your mission will be to export our Montréal sensibilities to French shores, build relationships with intercommunialités, régions, and operators (small and large) who share our mission of making it easier to live in cities without your own car.

We are looking for an urbanist Simone de Beauvoir: someone who believes cars are an embarrassing holdover from the middle ages. You must have real-world experience growing proven products in new markets. You’ll report directly to Transit’s COO, and work closely with data scientists, copywriters, designers, and members of our business team. With your help, Transit will become the default navigation tool for urban life in France.

👨‍💻 A note on diversity

Public transit is used by overwhelmingly more women and people of colour than other modes of transportation. We try to make sure the diversity of our users is reflected in the team that serves them. Because when we include people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, ages, and identities — we end up building a better app for everyone who uses Transit.

We encourage candidates of all ages, genders, origins and orientations to apply. If you’d like to specify which pronouns you use, feel free to include that in your application email.

And if your lived experience has given you a unique perspective on all things transportation, mobility, accessibility, urbanism? Let us know, and we’ll make sure your application gets the attention it merits.
