There’s an ocean of cars out there. But the tides of change are coming. Cities are finally conceding that cars and their attendant party favours (endless traffic, parking mayhem, too many crashes, so much pollution) are no longer worth the hassle. Space for cars is getting culled for bike lanes, bus lanes, sidewalk dining. Parking spots? They’re becoming as rare as buffalo sightings. Riding the tempest, gleefully inciting mayhem from up on high, there’s Transit: helping millions of city-dwellers find their way around their city without their own car.
We’re looking for a People Manager™ to be our first mate on board. One part recruiter, one part HR, one part culture, you’ll be the first point of contact as people join the Transit crew. You’ll help us find smart, lovely, passionate people (whether it’s an engineer from UQAM, a biz whiz from England, or a policy wonk who has spent decades in monk robes quietly plotting the
destruction removal of highways from cities). You’ll strive to make Transit’s office better reflect the diversity of Transit’s users — public transportation is used disproportionately more often by communities of colour and those with disabilities.
On the more “culture” side of things, you’ll be responsible for all things fun, whether virtual or 🤞📆💉 in person: delightfully low-key 5 à 7s, office functions and parties, and (insert your creative idea for cultivating good vibes: BIXI steeplechase? who-killed-the-streetcar Zoom murder mystery? go ahead, dazzle us). When passions flare, as they sometimes do, you’ll use your HR savvy to make the most of personal differences, uphold a culture of professional respect, and ensure Transit’s team stays united on its mission.
Do friends revere you for your empathy? Can past colleagues vouch for your discretion and tact? Then we’re sure the Transit team will love you too: organizers, team builders, human-oriented people. This one’s for you.
